I perioden 8.–11. august 2024 arrangerte Grorud IL den andre utgaven av Umbro Invitational Tournament. Turneringen samlet sterke utviklingsmiljøer fra Norge, Sverige og Finland i klassene G13 og G14, og ble gjennomført med høy sportslig kvalitet, stram kampstruktur og internasjonal deltakelse. Arrangementet bød på sterke prestasjoner, gode referanser for spillerne og profesjonell ramme rundt kampene. 

Turneringsformat 
• G13 (født 2011): 11 mot 11 – 2 x 25 minutter – 8 lag 
• G14 (født 2010): 11 mot 11 – 2 x 25 minutter – 10 lag 
Alle lag spilte fem innledende kamper og én plasseringskamp. Kampene ble dømt av dommertrio, streamet gjennom Spiideo Play og gjennomført på kunstgressbanene til Grorud IL.

Internasjonalt preg 
Det var stor bredde og variasjon i spillestil, nivå og kultur. AIK, Ilves, KäPa United og Västerås SK bidro med et internasjonalt snitt på og utenfor banen. Samtidig leverte norske klubber som Mjøndalen, Stabæk og Start sterke prestasjoner og viste hvorfor de er blant de fremste utviklingsklubbene i landet. 

Mer enn bare fotball 
Turneringen er ikke bare et sportslig møtested, men også en arena for fellesskap, trivsel og relasjonsbygging. Grorud IL la til rette for gode opplevelser både på og utenfor banen – med matservering, sosiale soner, åpen klubbkafé og oppfølging av gjestende lag fra start til slutt. 

Veien videre 
Vi er stolte over utviklingen fra første utgave i 2023 til årets turnering – med høyere sportslig nivå, bredere deltakelse og bedre fasiliteter. Umbro Invitational Tournament er i ferd med å etablere seg som en av de mest prestisjefylte G13/G14-turneringene i Norden. 

Tusen takk til alle klubber, dommere, frivillige, foreldre og ikke minst spillerne som gjorde dette til en minnerik helg!

From August 8–11, 2024, Grorud IL hosted the second edition of the Umbro Invitational Tournament. 
The tournament brought together top youth development environments from Norway, Sweden, and Finland in the U13 and U14 categories. It was delivered with high sporting quality, a well-structured match schedule, and international participation. The event offered strong performances, valuable benchmarks for the players, and a professional framework surrounding the matches.

Tournament Format 
U13 (born 2011): 11-a-side – 2 x 25 minutes – 8 teams 
U14 (born 2010): 11-a-side – 2 x 25 minutes – 10 teams 

All teams played five group-stage matches and one placement match. Matches were officiated by referee trios, streamed via Spiideo Play, and played on the artificial turf pitches at Grorud IL.

An International Flavor 
The tournament showcased a wide range of playing styles, skill levels, and footballing cultures. Clubs like AIK, Ilves, KäPa United, and Västerås SK brought an international dimension both on and off the pitch. At the same time, Norwegian clubs such as Mjøndalen, Stabæk, and Start delivered strong performances, proving why they are among the leading development clubs in the country. 

More Than Just Football 
The tournament served not only as a sporting arena but also as a platform for community, enjoyment, and relationship-building. Grorud IL ensured a positive experience both on and off the pitch – with food service, social zones, an open club café, and continuous support for visiting teams from start to finish. 

Looking Ahead 
We are proud of the progress from the inaugural 2023 edition to this year’s tournament – with a higher level of play, broader participation, and improved facilities. The Umbro Invitational Tournament is quickly establishing itself as one of the most prestigious U13/U14 tournaments in the Nordic region.
